intro to design and creative thinking
Cursive Type
Cursive type is named appropriately because it resembles your own handwriting. When you were first taught how to write “Long Hand’ in school, the teacher told you were going to write in ”cursive“.
Cursive fonts tend to be used for formal invitations, diplomas, and certificates. Because of the design attributes of cursive type, their x_height tends to be smaller than most fonts. Cursive fonts tend to be used at larger point sizes because they tend to print smaller than expected!
Cursive fonts can aslo be seen in less formal environments such as major league baseball uniforms. Look around at corporate or company logos and see how many make use of cursive fonts!
